Citroen has officially unveiled the second-generation C5 Aircross, bringing significant upgrades in design, technology, and powertrain options. The new model, based on Stellantis’ STLA Medium platform, introduces mild-hybrid, plug-in hybrid, and fully electric variants, reinforcing Citroen’s commitment to sustainable mobility.
Citroen C5 Aircross design and dimensions
The 2025 C5 Aircross retains Citroen’s signature design language but incorporates sharper lines and a more muscular stance. The front fascia features slim LED headlights with three-piece C-shaped DRLs, while the rear sports a striking 3D-effect taillight design.
The SUV has grown in size, now measuring 4,652 mm in length, with a wheelbase extended by 600 mm. This increase translates to more rear legroom and improved cabin space, making it one of the most spacious SUVs in its class.
Interior and Features
Citroen has completely redesigned the C5 Aircross’ interior, introducing the C-Zen Lounge, which aims to replicate a living room-like experience. The dashboard is dominated by a large portrait-oriented touchscreen, complemented by a 10-inch digital instrument cluster and an optional head-up display.
The Advanced Comfort seats now feature thicker padding and wrap-around bolsters, ensuring a plush ride. Rear passengers benefit from extra legroom, reclining backrests, and USB-C charging ports.
Powertrain Options
The 2025 C5 Aircross is available in three electrified configurations:
- Mild-hybrid – 1.2L three-cylinder petrol engine with a 0.93 kWh battery.
- Plug-in hybrid – 1.6L four-cylinder petrol engine paired with a 21 kWh battery, offering 85 km of pure electric range.
- Fully electric – Available with 73 kWh and 97 kWh battery packs, delivering 519 km and 697 km of range, respectively.
The electric variant supports DC fast charging, allowing a 20-80% charge in just 30 minutes.
Citroen C5 Aircross market position and rivals
The C5 Aircross competes with SUVs like the Volkswagen Tiguan, Hyundai Tucson, and Toyota RAV4. With its long-range EV variant, Citroen aims to challenge premium electric SUVs such as the Tesla Model Y and BMW iX.
