Italian Superbike brand Ducati on the 25th anniversary of its iconic motorcycle the Ducati 916, which was originally sketched by Massimo Tamburini, announced that they would celebrate this anniversary by building a special version of the 916 based on the Panigale V4.
The special edition Panigale V4 would be christened ‘Panigale V4 25° Anniversario 916’ and only 500 examples of the bike will be made. The Panigale V4 25° Anniversario 916 was unveiled by the brand at Pebble Beach California in presence of ‘King’ Carl Fogarty who won 55 races with Ducati out of which 43 riding a Ducati 916 SBK. The 916 made its debut in 1994 and the brand won 120 races, 8 Constructors title and 6 Riders title, four with Carl Fogarty.
The 25° Anniversario 916 is based on the Ducati Panigale V4 S with upgraded features from the Ducati Panigale V4 R and the bike gets a aluminium alloy Front Frame, Forged Magnesium alloy wheels, Titanium exhaust from Akrapovič and other Ducati Performance Components.
The Panigale V4 25° Anniversario 916 made its first world preview at Laguna Seca in California and the Spider Grips Ducati team rider, Carlin Dunne who died in a crash at Pike Peak was honoured during the occasion of remembrance. After the unveil Ducati announced that the Number 05 bike will be removed from selling, as it bears the same number Carlin Dunne used to race with, and the bike will be auctioned with the intention to raise funds to support Carlin Dunne’s mother.
From Saturday morning the Panigale V4 25° Anniversario 916 will be displayed at the Ducati Island which is a space where Ducati sets aside for its fans during the American races. The bike will arrive in dealerships in October 2019 and will be available for sale in India at the price of INR 54,90,000 ex-showroom.
