Maruti Grand Vitara 7-seater launch soon – What to expect?

As per a latest online report, Maruti Suzuki is all set to introduce a three-row version of the Grand Vitara later this year. Codenamed Y17, the Grand Vitara 7-seater will be suspended on the same platform as the 5-seater version.

Multiple test car spy shots have already surfaced online, which show that the 7-seater Grand Vitara will get different styling than the 5-seater version. Its design is going to be inspired by the upcoming Maruti e Vitara EV.

Apart from the design, the cabin is where the major change is likely to happen. While the dashboard layout might remain largely unaltered, it will get new features, a new digital console, and redesigned second-row seats along with a new third row.

Powering the upcoming 7-seater Grand Vitara will be the current 1.5-litre petrol and strong-hybrid powertrain options. The power and torque figures are likely to remain unchanged, but we assume that the gearing will be shortened for better response.

Another major update could be the introduction of ADAS safety features, as test cars have been spotted with a nose-mounted radar earlier.

In terms of pricing, we expect that it will be positioned around the Rs 20-25 lakh mark, thus directly competing with the Hyundai Alcazar. A Toyota version of the same is also expected to arrive subsequently after its launch later this year.
