Citroen is preparing itself to bring in an all-new crossover sedan. Named C3X, this will arrive in the Indian market sometime next year. The C3X will become Citroen’s third product in the portfolio. The other two options on sale are, C3 hatchback and the upcoming C3 Aircross SUV.
What Do We Know So Far?
With the C3X, Citroen aims to bring in a fresh body type. Currently, we have the C3, which is essentially a hatchback with SUV-DNA. Then we have the C3 Aircross, which is a three-row seating SUV. Now with the C3X, Citroen aims to differentiate the C3X with its quirky design.
As per sources, C3X will carry a fastback styling with an SUV-like high ground clearance. This is a very unique styling proposition in the sedan segment. Once launched, it will take on the likes of the Hyundai Verna, Honda City, Volkswagen Virtus and Skoda Slavia.
Citroen will aim for heavy localisation of components. This is to lower the costs and put up an aggressive price tag. Citroen India is also keenly aiming on sharing parts among its models. We have already seen the interior elements like the dashboard and seats shared among the C3, the eC3 and the C3 Aircross SUV. Thus with the C3X too we are expecting shared parts which could include the 10-inch infotainment system, dashboard, seating, steering wheel, and HVAC controls.
Citroen C3X Powertrain Options
Talking of the engines, we could have a sole 1.2-litre, 110hp turbo petrol motor. We are also expecting an all-electric iteration as well.
Launch Timeline For Citroen C3X
As we know, Citroen is on track to launch an all-new model every year. And the C3X will become the third product in as many years. But as of now, the company has not hinted at any timeline for the C3X. It is safe to assume that the C3X could arrive around July 2024.
