British luxury car manufacturer Rolls-Royce has announced the launch of its all-new, bespoke Phantom Orchid for the Singapore Market. This one-off creation symbolises the Lion City’s national flower, which is a hybrid orchid called the Vanda ‘Miss Joaquim.’ The Phantom Orchid is the brand’s 2nd exclusive vehicle commissioned for Singapore, the first being the SG50 Bespoke Ghost. Rolls-Royce created the first SG50 Bespoke Ghost luxury sedan for the first-world Asian country to celebrate its 50th anniversary.
2022 Rolls-Royce Phantom Orchid: The Exclusive Collaboration
Rolls Royce created the Phantom Orchid at its Bespoke Collective at Goodwood by collaborating with renowned artist Helen Amy Murray. Since the car has been designed exclusively for Singapore, the brand and the artist selected the Orchid as its inspirational theme. Known throughout the ages as a focal point for art, the Orchid is one of the most coveted ornamental plants.
The Orchid represents resilience, beauty, and strength, which Rolls-Royce decided to adopt as a blank canvas for its long-wheelbase Phantom. The brand states that the Orchid represents many facets of Asian life that serves as a reminder to adapt and thrive. Via this collaboration, Rolls-Royce and artist Helen Amy Murray implemented various exclusive interior and exterior details on the Phantom Orchid.
2022 Rolls-Royce Phantom Orchid: Exterior Details
Rolls-Royce uses the latest paint technology to create the exclusive colour scheme on the special ‘one of one’ Phantom. By choosing ‘Arctic White’ as the base colour, the brand added a tint of violet, which represents the Orchid. After combining fine glass particles with a unique colour via a special process, Rolls-Royce achieved a stunning pearlescent appearance.
Under bright light, observers can witness a shimmering effect from the colour scheme after being viewed from different angles. On both sides of the luxury sedan, Rolls-Royce has added an eye-catching single coachline with an orchid-inspired bespoke motif. The brand states that these exterior elements symbolise Singapore as a modern garden city that merges nature and technology seamlessly.
2022 Rolls-Royce Phantom Orchid: Interior Details
To create the Phantom Orchid’s bespoke interior gallery, Helen Amy Murray and her team of artists undertook the pioneering opportunity. The renowned artist spent over 200 hours relentlessly refining her design and artwork with a team of six. Inspired by several kinds of orchids, including the Singapore Orchid, Helen concluded that colour is the key to capturing the essence.
She began illustrating the design by hand before creating a digital version that she printed directly onto the silk crepe satin. To complete the process, the team meticulously hand-sculpted the flowers to release layers of fabric that created a 3D effect. Rolls-Royce’s bespoke designer Yohan Benchetrit created the orchid-inspired Picnic Table Inlays at the rear of the meticulously-built cabin.
Once opened, the inlays reveal a beautiful layer of orchids set into the Piano Black veneer of the Picnic Table. Benchetrit has also added Bespoke treadplates on the Phantom Orchid that showcase a sans text to welcome the occupants. The brand has created an Orchid Sanctuary that boosts ambience within the cabin, which features furnished, elegant and natural colours.
