Aprilia as of now under the Piaggio wing has just 2 mass market products, the Aprila SR 125 & SR 150 scooters. The brand does retail big bikes here in India, but nothing to harp about in terms of volumes. However, seems like the team is interested to look into the low capacity premium bike segment.
At the recently concluded Auto Expo 2018, Aprilia showcased the RS 150 & Tuono 150 sportsbikes to the Indian audience. And, as you are aware, enthusiasts are very excited.
But, just to put things in place, these bikes are not launching anytime soon. If Aprilia wants to sell the Tuono 150 in India, they will have to locally manufacture it here. Although the brand does have ample space at their plant to get this done, the sales numbers by segment standards are not very promising to justify the investment.
Powering the Aprilia Tuono 150 is a 150cc, liquid-cooled, single-cylinder, fuel-injected motor producing 18 HP of power @ 10000 RPM and 14 Nm of torque @ 7500 RPM matched to a 6-speed gearbox. Also, these bikes will come with ABS as standard.
While the Aprilia RS 150 will have the Yamaha YZF-R15 V3.0 as a direct rival, the Tuono 150 will be the only such performance motorcycle in the segment.
