Kia Motors has started mass production of the Seltos SUV in India from today onwards. Seltos is the brands first car here for the Indian market, and it will also be sold worldwide. Kia Motors is the 8th largest car manufacturer and they have set up their plant in Anandapur, Andhra Pradesh.
Kia Motors has tested the Seltos SUV for more than 20 lakh kms, and is now fit to launched and handed to customers. The production version will soon reach all dealerships, and Kia will officially announce prices and deliveries from 22nd August, 2019.
At the Auto Expo 2018, Kia Motors revealed the SP2i concept. This has turned into reality as the Seltos SUV and it made a world debut on 20th June in India. The Kia Motors plant has an annual capacity of 300,000 vehicles and is capable of manufacturing hybrid and electric cars.
The Kia Seltos will be launched in India with 3 engine options which include a 1.4L, 4-cylinder, turbocharged petrol motor producing 140 PS of power and 242 Nm of torque matched to either a 6-speed manual or 7-speed DCT gearbox. The mileage for this 1.4L TGDi engine is 16.5 kmpl for DCT and 16.1 kmpl for MT. The other engine on offer is a 1.5L naturally aspirated petrol unit producing 115 PS of power and 144 Nm of torque matched to a 6-speed manual or CVT automatic gearbox delivering 16.8 kmpl on CVT and 16.5 kmpl on manual options. The diesel engine on the Kia Seltos is a 1.5L with VGT motor producing 115 PS of power and 250 Nm of torque matched to a 6-speed manual or 6-speed automatic gearbox delivering 18 kmpl on AT and 21 kmpl on manual transmission.
Kia Seltos is the only car in India to be offered with such a long list of engine and gearbox combination. Also, do note, that the Kia Seltos will come with BSVI compliant engines from the day of launch.
Kia Seltos dealerships will be active in 160 cities and bookings will be open on the brands official website as well. Pre-bookings started on July 16th 2019 and Kia has already found 23,311 confirmed buyers in just 3 weeks time.
