Honda could be planning to introduce the CB500 Hornet urban street fighter motorcycle in the Indian market. According to reports, the brand has filed the design patents for the CB500 Hornet in India which could be an indication that the Japanese manufacturer could be planning to launch the bike here soon.
However, filing design patents at the intellectual property office does not necessarily mean that the bike will be launched here. Sometimes brand file patents to protect their design and Honda has several of its products’ design patented in India. But if Honda introduces the CB500 Hornet, here is all you need to know about the bike.
Honda CB500 Hornet – Design
The Honda CB500 Hornet comes with a street fighter design with a sharp headlamp unit with stacked LED lights. The motorcycle also comes with a large raised fuel tank and pointy tank shrouds. The CB500 Hornet also come with a sleek tail section and split step-up seats.

Powering the motorcycle is the venerable 471cc liquid-cooled, in-line twin-cylinder engine. The DOHC motor produces 47 Hp of power and 43 Nm of torque matched to a 6-speed gearbox. The motorcycle also gets Assist and Slipper clutch. Furthermore, the CB500 Hornet also comes with upside down front forks and a monoshock on the rear. The 41mm Showa SFF-BP fork is non adjustable, however, the rear suspension unit comes with 5-step preload adjustment. The bike also come with an accessible saddle height of 785mm and weighs 188kgs at the kerb.

In terms of features, expect the CB500 Hornet to come with a full-digital colour TFT instruments cluster. The display is likely to come with three different layouts, fuel economy information, multiple trip computers and realtime fuel economy. The bike also comes with turn-by-turn navigation, mobile phone connectivity, gear position indicator, speedometer and a tachometer. The motorcycle also gets LED headlamp, taillamp and indicators.
If launched in India, the motorcycle could come via the CBU route and is likely to have a price tag of around INR 5 lakh ex-showroom.
