KTM is currently testing its new-generation RC range of motorcycles. Recently we reported the KTM RC 125/200 testing on Indian roads and now spy shots of the KTM RC 390 in the new-generation avatar have emerged on the internet. This leads us to believe that the brand might be planning to introduce all three motorcycles in the Indian market soon.
Design & Styling
The KTM RC 390 features the new-generation design language similar to the RC 125/200 spotted earlier. The fascia is wider than before with a single headlamp cluster and turn signals integrated into the nose fairing. The motorcycle comes with a new windscreen visor and angular side fairings. The tail section appears revised and the brand is also offering a new pillion seat a more ergonomic rider’s seat, pillion grab rails, and a familiar chiselled fuel tank. The easy differentiating factor from the new-generation RC 125/200, is the side slung exhaust unit as both the 125 and the 200 come with an underbelly exhaust system.
Powertrain & Mechanicals
The 2021 KTM RC 390 is likely to use the same BS6 compliant 373.2cc liquid-cooled single-cylinder, four-stroke engine that produces 43 BHp of power and 35 Nm of torque matched to a 6-speed transmission unit and an assist and slipper clutch. The Chassis is also likely to carry-over with mild changes to accommodate the new fairings. KTM might also use the same WP upside-down fork suspension and pre-load adjustable monoshock suspension on the rear. But the new model gets a new 5-spoke alloy wheel design and a new disc rotor for the front wheel.
Electronics Package
While the electronics package is still unknown, KTM is likely to offer a new full-colour TFT dashboard on the new RC 390 along with features such as a bidirectional quickshifter. While the brand offers the MTC (Motorcycle Traction Control) and Cornering ABS on the KTM 390 Adventure it is not yet known if the brand will offer the same 6-axis IMU-based features on the supersport model.
