MG Motor India has updated its popular Hector SUV to comply with E20 fuel standards, ensuring compatibility with 20% ethanol-blended petrol. This move aligns with the Indian government’s directive requiring all gasoline-powered vehicles manufactured after April 1, 2025, to support E20 fuel.

The Hector continues to be offered with two engine options—a 1.5-litre turbo petrol producing 143 PS and 250 Nm and a 2.0-litre diesel delivering 170 PS and 350 Nm. The petrol variant is available with a 6-speed manual or CVT, while the diesel model comes with a 6-speed manual transmission.

MG Hector SUV

MG has priced the E20-compliant Hector petrol between INR 13.99 lakh and INR 22.13 lakh, while the diesel variant sits in the INR 18.57 lakh to INR 22.56 lakh range (ex-showroom). The update ensures that all petrol-powered Hector units produced after March 31, 2025, will meet the new ethanol fuel standards.

The Hector remains a strong contender in the mid-size SUV segment, competing with models like the Mahindra Scorpio-N, Jeep Compass, and Tata Harrier. It continues to offer premium features such as a dual-pane panoramic sunroof, a 14-inch HD infotainment touchscreen, and over 70 connected car technologies.

Our Thoughts

As someone who loves seeing automakers embrace sustainability, MG’s move to make the Hector E20-compliant feels like a step in the right direction. Ethanol-blended fuel is a great way to reduce emissions while supporting India’s energy goals. And let’s not forget—the Hector still packs all the tech and comfort that made it a hit in the first place.
