Triumph has introduced its much-awaited sport tourer in India – the 2024 Triumph Daytona 660. The price is yet to be announced, but speculation is that the motorcycle will hit the market by March 2024. In the UK, the motorcycle comes with a price tag of GBP 8,595 MSRP and the company is already receiving pre-orders. In India, the Triumph Daytona 660 will directly compete with the Honda CBR 650R and the Kawasaki Ninja 650. Internationally, the bike rivals the likes of the Yamaha R7 as well as the Suzuki GSX-8R.
Triumph Daytona 660 – Is it a Sport Touring Motorcycle?
The design not only offers clean lines with modern technology but also features a new riding position apt for sport touring. This not only allows for a thoroughbred sports bike performance but also everyday riding comfort. According to Triumph the handlebars on the Daytona 660 are positioned above the top yoke. Thanks to this, the bike offers a balanced feedback between dynamic sports riding as well as comfort during long saddle times.
Triumph also reveals that the steering is light enough for low-speed urban manoeuvres. A practical windscreen also deflects the wind blast, reducing rider fatigue on fast highways. In addition to this, the Triumph Daytona 660 features an 810mm seat height with a narrow stand-over. This allows access to riders with shorter inseams withouts compromising comfort for taller riders. The foot peg position also delivers generous cornering clearance, claims Triumph.
Triumph Daytona 660 – Design and Features
The 2024 Triumph Daytona 660 features a compact and sporty design. The motorcycle features an aggressive and sporty look on the front with an aerodynamic windscreen. The bike gets sharp LED headlamps with signature Daytona ram air duct in between. The motorcycle also comes with a sleek and short tail offering a minimal overhang.
Triumph offers ride-by-wire throttle with three riding modes – Sport, Road and Rain. The bike also comes with traction control, ABS and Emergency Deceleration Warning system for safety. The Daytona 660 also gets a multi-functional TFT LCD with white-on-black display and My Triumph Connectivity System as an accessory.
Triumph Daytona 660 – Engine and Performance
Powering the Triumph Daytona 660 is Triumph’s signature three-cylinder engine. The 660cc liquid-cooled engine with a 240-degree firing order producing low-end torque and a unique triple soundtrack. The triple engine produces 95 PS of power @ 11,250rpm and 69 Nm of torque @ 8,250 rpm. Triumph claims that more than 80% of the power and torque is available all the way from 3,125 rpm to 11,750 rpm.
The Triumph Daytona 660 comes with a tubular steel perimeter frame and steel fabricated twin-sided swing arm. The motorcycle rides on 41mm upside down Showa Separate Function Forks – Big Piston front forks. On the rear, the bike gets a Showa monoshock with preload adjustment. The bike also gets twin 310mm floating discs with 4 piston radial callipers on the front and a 220mm single disc on the rear equipped with ABS. The motorcycle gets a 14-litre fuel tank, 1425.6 mm of wheelbase and a wet weight of 201 kgs.
