MG Motor India’s new compact electric car for the Indian market is coming soon, and the brand has now released an interior teaser. MG also revealed the exterior design of this product a while back, and currently, there is nothing quite like it in our market. While the MG Comet would now rival the likes of Tata Tiago EV, the ideal rival would have been the long gone Mahindra e2o.
What’s inside the MG Comet?
Look at the interior teaser image, and you will see a compact yet modern cabin. The interior cabin is going to be in a dual tone theme, but with lighter shades so that customers feel that the vehicle is spacious. A darker colour would have made the interior feel claustrophobic. The steering wheel is seen with a perforated upholstery with controls for your infotainment, voice command and also for the digital MID.
Seen on the dashboard is a connected screen setup for the speedometer cluster and the infotainment. While we expect the infotainment to be a high definition touchscreen with internet connectivity, the instrument cluster will be operated via the steering controls. One can also notice the flat dashboard, climate control console, rounded rectangular AC vents and the MG logo on the steering wheel.
MG Motor India claims that the Comet will also be more of a tech tool for commutes, rather than just another automotive option. This is being pitched as an auto-tech option for city commuters.
The Right Size?
In crowded cities like Mumbai, Pune, Delhi & Bangalore; you will notice hundreds of commuters using a vehicle just by themselves. Or car pool with may be one passenger. For such a use case, the MG Comet with it’s 2-door styling, compact size & EV benefits would be a perfect option. Yes, this is a small car, and it might not be a comfortable car for 4/5 passengers for long hours, but for daily commutes, this would be ideal. Also, with such a tight size, parking in congested cities would also be a breeze.
