Finally, the much awaited Maruti Suzuki Jimny 5-door has been spotted sans camouflage. The SUV appears to be spotted in the production-ready guise. The 5-door version will debut globally at the 2023 Auto Expo in Greater Noida next month.

Looks like the SUV was undergoing final testing before the Indian launch. The car was spotted in Lahaul region of Himachal Pradesh. This is the first ever picture of the 5-door Jimny in the flesh. In terms of design, the car gets a longer wheelbase, bigger body and two extra doors for the rear seat occupants. There are the only major changes as compared to the three-door Jimny.
It also gets meaty alloy wheels with flared wheel arches. The SUV appears to be based on the Jimny Sierra sold in the international markets.
The test car was finished in the Kinetic Yellow paint. The colour makes the SUV standout amongst the bland colour offerings. The 5-door car will have a wheelbase of 2,550 mm, which is 300 mm longer than the 3-door version. Further, the length of the car will be set at 3,850 mm.
The rear doors get a large squarish window, but the actual window that can go down is very less. This is due to the protruding wheel arch leaving very less space for the actual window to sink in the doors. The C-pillar area is also unique and gets a tall quarter glass and thick pillars.
The Jimny 5-door has been known as the Suzuki YWD or the Jimny Long. It gets the same rear end treatment like the exposed hinges, tailgate mounted spare tyre and tail lights housed in the rear bumper.
Maruti Suzuki Jimny 5-door : Engine and Transmission
As reported before, the Jimny will come with the tried and tested 1.5-litre K15B engine. This naturally aspirated engine develops a peak power of 102 HP and a max torque of 130 Nm. The engine is paired with either a 5-speed manual gearbox or a 4-speed automatic gearbox. Maruti is also likely to offer Suzuki’s AllGrip Pro all-wheel-drive system as standard on both the gearbox options.
