It is no hidden fact that Maruti and Toyota are jointly developing new 7-seater models based on the Grand Vitara and Hyryder cars. Both of these models are expected to launch in India later this year.

Both manufacturers have begun the road testing of these upcoming SUVs. Toyota’s iteration test car has been spotted in Bengaluru with heavy camouflage recently, showing the new rear design.

This new SUV is based on the current Hyryder, and it will feature multiple seats with a stretched body design. You can imagine it as Toyota’s version of a model like the Hyundai Alcazar, which itself is based on the Creta.

Although a lot of key design details are hidden, its unique rear section shows the connected LED lights, which feature a long vertical curve on both edges.

Additionally, it is going to be substantially longer than the Hyryder to accommodate 7 passengers, and to provide more luxury features like captain seats for the second row (on a 6-seater version).

Moreover, the front fascia and side profile features like the headlamps, bumpers, bonnet, and alloy wheels, all will undergo massive design changes.

On the inside, a new dashboard, a new steering wheel, a connected screen display, and leather upholstery with new seats are expected to be offered. The interiors are likely going to be inspired by the upcoming Maruti Suzuki e Vitara.

Last but not least, the powertrain options will be carried over from the current Hyryder model. Therefore, the upcoming 7-seater Hyryder will get a petrol, a strong-hybrid, and an AWD variant.

The launch timeline is expected around the festive season later this year. Prices will be in the ballpark of the Hyundai Alcazar.

Our conclusion

The Hyryder 7-seater version will be Toyota’s second jointly developed model with Maruti Suzuki. The first product, which is the current Hyryder, has worked out really well for the Japanese brand. More details are likely to be revealed in the upcoming months.
