Two out of every three Hyundai vehicles sold are SUVs

Hyundai Motor India has achieved a remarkable milestone, with SUVs making up 68.5% of its total domestic sales in FY2024-25. This marks a notable increase from 63.2% in the previous fiscal year, underscoring the growing preference for SUVs among Indian buyers. The company’s strong SUV lineup, which includes models like the Creta, Venue, Exter, Alcazar, Tucson, and the all-electric Ioniq 5, has played a pivotal role in this achievement.

What do the numbers say?

Hyundai sold 5,98,666 units in the domestic market during FY2024-25, with SUVs accounting for nearly two-thirds of this volume. The Creta, a long-standing favorite, continued to lead the charge, while newer models like the Exter and Venue further strengthened Hyundai’s position in the SUV segment.

The growing demand for premium features has also contributed to the SUV segment’s dominance. Over 53% of Hyundai vehicles sold in FY2024-25 were equipped with sunroofs, reflecting Indian buyers’ increasing preference for feature-rich models. Hyundai currently offers sunroof options in 12 out of its 14 models, catering to this trend.

Hyundai unique features for the win?

Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) have also gained traction, with their contribution doubling from 6.7% in FY2023-24 to 14.3% in FY2024-25. Hyundai offers ADAS as an option in nine of its models, reinforcing its commitment to safety and innovation.

Hyundai’s diverse powertrain options, including petrol, diesel, turbo petrol, CNG, and electric, have further broadened its appeal. The company also offers a range of transmission choices, such as manual, AMT, iVT, AT, and DCT, ensuring there’s something for every type of driver.
