TVS Motor Company announced its sales report for May 2021. The Chennai-based automotive company registered a total sales of 1,66,889 units in May 2021. When compared to the sales figure for the same period, last year it stood at 58,906 units. Similar to other automotive companies in India, TVS also mentioned that the sales figures are lower than their target.
The main reason being, the sporadic lockdowns across the states due to the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic. The situation seems to get back to normal as India registering cases in a downward trend. TVS also mentioned that it is currently maintaining adequate stock to support the customers’ demand.
Detailed Breakup Of May Sales Figure
For May 2021, TVS registered a total sales of 1,54,416 units of two-wheelers against 56,218 units for the same period last year. Motorcycles and Scooters contributed towards 1,25,188 units and 19,627 units respectively for May 2021. And this figure stood at 26,772 units of motorcycles and 16,120 units of scooters for May 2020.
All in all, for the domestic market, TVS sold a total of 52,084 units in May 2021, as against 41,067 for the corresponding month last year. In terms of international business, TVS exported 1,14,674 units for May 2021, compared to 17,707 for May 2020. Two-wheeler exports accounted for 1,02,332 units in May 2021 as against 15,151 units in May 2020. TVS mentioned that the demand in the international market is on par and is expected to grow in the coming days.
For the three-wheelers segment, TVS registered a total sales of 12,473 units in May 2021 compared to 2,688 units for May 2020.

To help the country fight the ongoing pandemic, TVS Motor Company had announced a slew of measures. The company has joined its hands with the state governments to provide over 2,00 oxygen concentrators. Along with this, TVS is also providing essential medical services to rural areas. After acquiring Norton Motorcycle in an all-cash deal worth GBP 16 million, it is expected that Norton will launch new products in the market soon.
