The Creon concept which was showcased at the 2018 Auto Expo will now be making it to our streets very soon, reports suggest. TVS officials have confirmed that the electric bike will be launched in this fiscal year. The electric scooter will be based on the TVS Creon concept and will be the brands first electric vehicle. Its connected technology will be jointly developed with Intel.
The Creon concept electric scooter features smart connected technology and comes with a full-colour TFT instrument cluster and has features like speedometer, odometer, trip computer, tachometer and a battery charge indicator. It also features cloud connectivity, navigation and geo-fencing.
The electric concept scooter also comes with features like regenerative braking, riding modes, park assist, anti-theft and more. The concept scooter has vertically oriented all-LED headlights, diamond-cut alloy wheels, right-side up telescopic forks, offset rear monoshock, large under seat storage, USB charging, etc.
Though information on the powertrain is scarce, under the skin, the TVS Creon electric scooter is expected to be powered by a 12 kW electric motor connected to a lithium-ion battery that has a range of 80 km on a single charge and can be charged to up to 80% in an hour. The electric scooter is expected sprint from 0-60 kmph in 5.1 seconds, though the top speed is still unknown. It is also expected to get petal disc brakes on both wheels, equipped with a single-channel ABS.
TVS has made heavy investments in electric technology and shall gain fruitful returns with the help of Government Of India’s FAME II scheme which provides subsidy to manufacturers who localise more than 50% parts. More details on the TVS electric scooter will be revealed closer to the launch. It is also expected that the production-spec model will retain all the features from the above-mentioned concept scooter.
