Toyota launches rebadged Maruti Suzuki Ertiga as Rumion in South Africa

Written by Akhil Dalvi

Recent pictures of the rebadged Maruti Suzuki Ertiga for the South African market have surfaced online. Named the Rumion, the entire car is identical to the Ertiga, apart from a few cosmetic changes. The MPV features a new front grille, Toyota badging on both ends, and black interiors with wood trim. Toyota offers rebadged versions of existing Maruti cars like the Glanza and Urban Cruiser for the Indian market.

The Glanza and Urban Cruiser underpin the Baleno and Vitara Brezza, respectively, as Toyota continues its global partnership with Maruti Suzuki. Toyota will likely offer the rebadged version of Maruti Suzuki’s Ciaz as the Belta for the Indian market. The Japanese carmaker might also rebrand the Ertiga as the Rumion MPV for sale in the Indian market.

Toyota Rumion: Engine and Transmission Specifications

Powering the Rumion is the same 1.5-litre smart hybrid engine found in the Maruti Suzuki Ertiga. The motor produces an identical 103 Ps of max power and 138 Nm of peak torque via two transmission options. One is a 5-speed manual transmission found on the base variant, and the other is a 4-speed torque converter automatic.

Toyota Rumion: Dimensions and Interior Highlights

The Rumion measures 4395mm in length and comes with a wheelbase of 2740mm. Along with a ground clearance of 180mm, all dimension figures are identical to the Maruti Suzuki Ertiga. The interior is similar as well, thanks to 7 seats, 60:40 split second row of seats, and fully-foldable third row of seats. A flat-bottom steering wheel, wooden dashboard applique, and 550 liters of storage space are noteworthy interior highlights of the Rumion.
