Tata Motors are currently on a roll. Riding high on the success of the Tiago, Tigor & Hexa, the brand still has quite a few tricks up its sleeve. At the Auto Expo 2018, Tata Motors showcased the premium hatchback concept 45X, which when launched, will rival the likes of Maruti Suzuki Baleno & Hyundai Elite i20.
Although a concept, what we see here won’t be much different from the real deal. Tata Motors has shown in the recent past that their concept design can be related to the production version and this has got us very excited. As you can see, the 45X is premium from every angle. A proper sporty looking hatchback, and noticeably bigger in size compared to the Tiago.
The 45X concept is based on a new ‘Agile Light Flexible Advanced’ Architecture and will be launched in the next fiscal year. We are expecting a launch around Q1 of 2019. Test cars are already out in the open, and the 45X hatchback is already taking steps towards production. What we see here although a concept, is not too far away from reality.
Coming out with the Impact 2.0 design language, the 45X could sport sleek LED headlamp & tail lamps, high mounted fog lamp, sleek front grille, wide air intake area on the front bumper, sloping roofline, floating roof effect, 16″ alloy wheels at least, a rear spoiler & bold crease lines. Also, we appreciate this new sharp & edgy styling as it shows that Tata Motors is evolving from its curvy design theme from the past. And that, is a very good thing.
Powering the 45X could be the same petrol and diesel engines from the Nexon. So expect a 1.2L petrol with 110 PS of power and a 1.5L diesel with 110 PS of power.
Do you like what you see? Do you think that the 45X could be better than the Maruti Suzuki Baleno or Hyundai Elite i20?
