Haval is the marquee owned by Great Wall Motors (GWM) a Chinese state-owned car manufacturer. The Haval brand which specializes in making SUVs has made its India debut at the Auto Expo 2020 with a number of production models and Concept SUVs. One of the SUVs that the brand is likely to consider for the Indian market is the Haval H9. On the exterior, the Haval H9 features a big, wide, imposing front fascia with a classic big SUV design language, two-slated chrome grille, round fog lights, rectangular wrap-around headlight with projectors and chrome inserts, LED daytime running lights, a faux skid plate and air-vents on the muscular bonnet. When viewed from the profile the Haval H9 gets 18-inch alloy wheels, muscular wheel arches, a large glasshouse with chrome window sills, chrome cladding on the lower part of the doors, an entry step for easier ingress and egress and roof rails. On the rear, Haval H9 comes with large vertical tail lamps, a spare wheel mounted tailgate and a chrome exhaust tip. On the interior, the Haval H9 features a fully digital drivers instrument console, heated leather-wrapped & control mounted steering wheel, an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system, combination of push-button and rotary controls for the air-conditioning, a chunky gear selector and a rotary dial to select the various off-road terrain options. The Haval H9 also comes with contoured leather seats with ventilation and massage function along with premium material used on its dashboard and central tunnel. The Chinese-spec Haval H9 is powered by a 2.0-litre, 4-cylinder, turbocharged petrol engine that makes 218 hp of power and 324 Nm of torque mated to an 8-speed automatic gearbox and a 4-wheel-drivetrain with low range and locking differential. Safety features on the Haval H9 include six airbags, ABS with EBD, traction control, auto hold, hill ascent control, hill descent control, front and rear parking sensors, front and rear camera and an electronic parking brake. The Chinese-spec Haval H9 is 4856mm long 1926mm wide, 1900mm tall with a wheelbase of 2800mm. The Haval H9 is speculated to be launched in India around 2021. When launched in the Indian market, the H9 will rival the likes of the Toyota Fortuner, Mahindra Alturas G4 and the Ford Endeavour.
