Sales performance for General Motors India has been down by 37.38% in the month of September 2014 as opposed to September 2013. The brand sold 4,413 units of Chevrolet cars as opposed to 7,048 units in the same month last year.
September 2014 sales include 1,139 units of the Beat, 1,166 units of the Sail (hatchback and sedan combined) and 1,149 units of the Tavera.
For a brand with more than a decade long presence in the Indian market, the company still does not have more than 3% market share in the Indian automotive sector. The most consistent performer for the brand is the Tavera, which is a rather old product and works purely on it’s people moving abilities. What will it take for General Motors (Chevrolet) to come out with a better understanding of the market and a product which clicks?
Competition is now stiff and Volkswagen, Renault and Nissan seem all set to gain more market share in the coming months with new launches.
