TVS Motor Company is gearing up to launch its first-ever adventure motorcycle, the Apache RTX 300, and the latest spy shots confirm that the bike is in its final testing phase. In a rare move, TVS MD Sudarshan Venu was spotted personally riding the test mule, signaling the company’s commitment to delivering a highly refined ADV.
Design and features
The Apache RTX 300 embraces a true adventure touring stance, featuring a tall windscreen, wide handlebars, and a split-seat layout. The test mule was seen with knobby tyres, an upswept exhaust, and a semi-faired body, reinforcing its off-road capabilities.
The bike is expected to come with LED turn indicators, a digital instrument cluster, and a luggage rack, making it ideal for long-distance touring.
Engine and performance
Powering the Apache RTX 300 is TVS’s new RT-XD4 engine, a 299cc liquid-cooled DOHC unit producing 35 bhp at 9,000 rpm and 28.5 Nm at 7,000 rpm. The engine is paired with a 6-speed gearbox, featuring a slipper clutch and bi-directional quickshifter, ensuring smooth gear transitions. The engine is claimed to be very refined in its segment.
Suspension duties are handled by USD front forks and a rear monoshock, while braking is managed by petal disc brakes with switchable dual-channel ABS.
Market position and rivals
The Apache RTX 300 will compete with Royal Enfield Himalayan 450, KTM 390 Adventure, Suzuki V-Strom SX 250, and Yezdi Adventure. Given its premium features and performance, TVS is expected to price it between INR 2.4 lakh and INR 2.7 lakh (ex-showroom).
Expected launch timeline
With the MD himself testing the bike, the Apache RTX 300 is likely to be launched within the next two to three months.
