Renault has announced that the Kwid has crossed the 3 lakh units sales milestone in India. The Renault Kwid has played a key role in the manufacturers ‘Make In India’ narrative with 98% localisation. The SUV inspired small car is offered in two engine variants – 0.8-litre and 1.0-litre SCE (Smart Control Efficiency) with manual and automated manual transmission (AMT) options.
The Renault Kwid is offered with features like a 7-inch touchscreen Media NAV system, digital Instrument cluster, one-touch lane change indicator, speed dependent volume control, razor-shaped chrome front grille, remote keyless entry, etc.
In terms of safety, the Kwid gets a high seating position, rear-view camera assist, pro-sense seat belt pre-tensioners with load limiters, Anti-Lock Braking System (ABS) with Electronic Brakeforce Distribution (EBD), Driver airbag and Driver and Co-Driver Seat belt reminder and a speed alert system standard across all variants. The safety features of the Renault Kwid complies with the latest safety regulations, including pedestrian crash safety tests.
In the engine department the Renault Kwid comes in two petrol engine options:-
- 799 cc 3-cylinder 12-valve engine that produces 54 BHP of power @ 5678 RPM and 72 Nm of torque @ 4386 RPM
- 999 cc 3-cylinder 12-valve engine producing 68 PS of power @ 5500 RPM and 91 Nm of torque @ 4250 RPM
Both engines are coupled to a 5-speed manual transmission and the AMT (Automated Manual Transmission) option is only available with the larger 1.0-litre engine option. The Easy-R gearbox can be operated with a shift control dial with three modes Reverse – Neutral – Drive that is positioned below the infotainment system on the centre console.
The Renault Kwid measures in at 3679mm in length, 1579mm in width, 1478mm in height, with a Wheelbase of 2422mm. The ground clearance on the Kwid is 180mm and the car gets a 300-litre boot space.
