Refreshed Aprilia SR160 scooter ready for launch

Written by AnantaSaranNayak

Aprilia has officially opened pre-bookings for the SR160. Aprilia will soon launch the updated SR160 in the Indian market. In fact, reports suggest that the first batch has already arrived at the dealership. There are no mechanical updates to the scooter, and the changes are mostly cosmetic in nature. SR160 is the highest capacity scooter from Aprilia India. The other scooters include SR125, Storm 125, SXR-125, and SXR-160. As of now, the prices for this scooter are not yet out. But for reference, the current existing model retails at INR 1.08 (ex-showroom), and hence we expect similar pricing for the upcoming model or maybe with a slight increase.

What Are The Changes In This Latest Model?

As mentioned, this updated model only gets cosmetic changes that too mostly in the front design. From the very first glance, onlookers will identify the new V-shaped LED headlamp. Interestingly this is a single-beam unit as against the dual-beam unit in the current model. The headlight assembly is now much broader, and the LED DRLs are placed vertically. The top cowl gets new grooves that enhance the face of the scooter. The turn indicators remain the same as the outgoing model.

To give the scooter a fresh look, Aprilia has updated the body graphics as well. The green, white and red graphics on the top cowl reflect the Italian connection of the scooter. To further enhance the outlook of the already great looking scooter is the new carbon fibre finishes. And in this, the most prominent one is the front fender. The scooter now gets a one-piece grab rail in the rear instead of the existing model’s split grab rails. The instrument console will remain most likely the same.

Engine Specification and Mechanicals

The current model gets a 160.03cc air-cooled single-cylinder SOHC motor. The performance figure of this motor stands at 10.86 bhp and 11.6 Nm of torque. The chassis uses telescopic front suspension and a mono-shock unit at the rear. For braking, Aprilia is using a disc setup at the front and a drum at the rear. And for the upcoming model as well, we expect a very similar mechanical setup.
