Porsche has launched the Macan facelift SUV here in the Indian market. The Macan is launched in 2 variants, which include the Macan priced at INR 69.98 lakh and the Macan S priced at INR 85.03 lakh ex-showroom. It is to be noted, that this facelift model has arrived on Indian shores after a year of making a worldwide debut.
Porsche customers for the Macan facelift can also get custom service packages which start at INR 1.43 lakh and goes up to INR 1.52 lakh depending on the Macan or Macan S variant respectively.
Porsche is also planning an all-electric version of the 2nd generation Macan SUV to debut in 2021. The brand has revealed that they will not make any new diesel engines looking at the global trends and also trying to be that little bit environment friendly.
Powering the Porsche Macan, the standard model is a 2.0L, 4-cylinder, turbocharged gasoline motor which produces 252 HP of power and 370 Nm of torque. The Macan S is more powerful which comes with a 3.0L, turbocharged, V6 petrol motor belting out 354 HP of power and 480 Nm of torque. Porsche claims that the Macan S can sprint from 0-100 kmph in 5.3 seconds, which is quicker by 1.4 seconds compared to the lower-spec variant. The Macan S will have a top speed of 254 kmph.
The Macan gets a 7-speed Porsche Doppelkupplung (PDK) transmission with manual mode and paddle shifts on the steering wheel. The SUV rides on 21″ rims and has a ground clearance of ranging between 190 – 230mm.
Changes to the 2019 Macan facelift in India include LED light bars on the tail gate connecting each other, new LED headlamps, reprofiled front and rear bumpers, Porsche signature 4 LED DRLs in the headlamp cluster, new paint options, new Porsche Communication Management System which gets a 10.9″ touchscreen and optional GT sports steering similar to the 911.
With pricing just a few lakhs above German rivals, Porsche is confident that the new Macan will attract buyers.
