PMV Electric EV startup working on a new microcar

Written by Rohit Tonapi

Mumbai-headquartered PMV Electric which is an EV startup, is working on India’s first smart microcar for the Indian market. The EV startup brand focuses on personal mobility and builds fully-electric purpose-built vehicles for everyday use from scratch. The company’s mission is to build the future of personal mobility and to accelerate the adoption of sustainability in the daily commute.

There is an increase in demand for electric cars more than ever. Hence, it makes sense for PMV Electric to develop an affordable, small-footprint electric car for the everyday commute. The company started with a team of fewer than five members. The company then closed an undisclosed amount of the pre-seed fund and plans to launch the car later this year. Even with minimal spending on marketing for the product, it generated over 10,000 enquiries across the country.

PMV Electric EaS-e Microcar – Dimensions

We can’t talk about a microcar and not tell its dimensions. The PMV Electric EaS-e classifies as a 4-wheeler quadricycle. Hence, it offers a small footprint which is perfect for urban conditions. The total length of the car is three-fourths of a premium hatchback. The EaS-e measures 2915mm in length, 1157mm in width and 1600mm in height.

The microcar offers a wheelbase of 2080mm. The relatively long wheelbase is thanks to the short overhangs and wheels pushed out to the front and back. Thus, also allowing for additional interior space. The EaS-e rides on 145 section tyres shod on 13-inch rims at both ends. Furthermore, to tackle Indian roads comfortably, it also gets a ground clearance of 170mm. The microcar has a kerb weight of 575 kg.

PMV Electric EaS-e Microcar – Top Features

The microcar will be small in size but big in features. The EaS-e will get Remote Parking Assist, Remote Keyless Entry, Remote Connectivity and much more. The car will also get Over-The-Air (OTA) updates to keep the vehicle updated. Since it is an electric car, it will offer a trunk as well as a front trunk, or ‘frunk’.

Inside the car, it will get an LCD digital instrument cluster, air-conditioning, steering mounted controls, power windows, an infotainment system with AM, FM, Bluetooth and USB, and more. For a more efficient drive, the EaS-e also gets regenerative braking.

The claimed range on a single charge for the EaS-e is 160 km. It uses an advanced Lithium Iron Phosphate battery. According to the company, charging the EaS-e will take less than four hours from a regular household outlet.
