Written by AnantaSaranNayak

The all-electric Atom quadricycle made headlines at the 2018 Auto Expo, and now we have some more details. Mahindra has officially revealed the details on the variants and battery size of the Atom. The initial plan was to launch the Atom in 2020, but the project got delayed due to the pandemic. There were some camouflaged sightings of the Atom, but other than that, we did not have any further details about it.

What Is The Mahindra Atom?

As it stands, Mahindra Atom will have four variants – K1, K2, K3, and K4. The first two variants will have a 7.4 kWh battery pack. Meanwhile, the latter will make up for the larger 11.1 kWh. The base trim for each of the battery types, which is K1 and K3, does not get air-conditioning. In terms of dimensions, the Atom measures 2,728mm in length, 1,452mm in width, 1,576mm in height and has a wheelbase of 1,885mm. Mahindra Atom will go head to head with the Bajaj Qute, which gets petrol and CNG fuel options.

Who Should Buy The Atom?

The Atom is a two-door, four-seater vehicle. Hence the quadricycle is best suited for first- and last-mile connectivity. Underpinned by a monocoque chassis, the design of Atom is quite upright and boxy, with the wheels pushed to the corners. With a large glass area, the occupants will feel comfortable and also airy inside.

On the inside, Atom gets a single seat at the front for the driver and a bench seat at the rear. A total of 3 passengers can sit in the rear seat. In terms of features, the high spec trim gets air-conditioning, a mobile docking station, and 4G capability with connected technology. As of now, Mahindra has not revealed any details regarding the range of the vehicle. Once it goes on sale, Atom will have no rivals as such. The Atom is a unique vehicle that will go on sale for the first time in India. And hence we wait to see how the market responds to the launch.
