2022 Tata Nexon EV Max launched at INR 17.74 lakh, 437 km Range

Tata Motors India has launched the new Nexon EV Max at INR 17.74 lakh ex-showroom. Since its launch, the Nexon EV has been a sales success. However, the range was still a concern for many customers. Hence, to address these concerns and offer a range-anxiety free drive, the company has launched the new Nexon EV Max. The new Nexon EV Max will offer additional features, better safety, faster charging and a longer range.

2022 Tata Nexon EV Max – Variants, Price and Colours

The Tata Nexon EV Max will be available in two trims, XZ+ and XZ+ Lux. Both variants now get an option of a faster 7.2 kW AC charger. The Nexon EV Max gets a new signature Intensi-Teal colour option. The other colour options are Daytona Grey and Pristine White. The colour options will now come as dual-tone as standard.

Prices for the Nexon EV Max start at INR 17.74 lakh ex-showroom. The other variant, XZ+ Lux, will cost INR 18.74 lakh ex-showroom. In addition to this, both variants with the optional 7.2 kW AC Fast Charger cost INR 50,000 extra. Thus, the prices with the AC Fast Charger are – INR 18.24 lakh ex-showroom for the XZ+ and INR 19.24 lakh ex-showroom for the XZ+ Lux.

2022 Tata Nexon EV Max – Top Features

The Nexon EV Max gets a new signature colour on the outside, but it is the interiors which get more updates. The interiors now get an all-new Makarana beige interiors. The seats are now leatherette and also get ventilation function for front passengers. The old parking brake is gone and makes way for a new Electronic Parking Brake. While, to control the drive modes, it features a new Jewelled Control Knob with an active mode display. The new knob gives the interiors a more uncluttered and clean design.

The Nexon EV Max also gets a new Multi-Mode Regen feature. The feature helps customers adjust the level of regenerative braking through the new switches. There will be four regen modes available. Level 0 offers no regenerative braking, while Level 3 offers the maximum regen. The Level 3 regen mode also allows for single-pedal driving. However, since many cars do not turn the taillights in a similar mode, the company adds another feature. The new auto brake lamps feature gets activated once a certain level of regen is achieved, which helps alert the other cars on the road.

In addition to the Regen modes, the Nexon EV Max also features three driving modes – eco, city and sport. The EV also gets features ZConnect 2.0 connected car technology. The app now offers 48 connected car features. These features help drive analytics and diagnosis. The new connected features include smartwatch integration, auto/manual DTC check, setting a charge limit, enhanced drive analytics, and monthly vehicle reports.

2022 Tata Nexon EV Max – Safety Features

The new Nexon EV Max features a host of additional safety features such as ESP with i-VBAC (intelligent-Vaccum-less Boost and Active Control), Hill Hold and Hill Descent Control. The model also gets 4-disc brakes for additional stopping power and more control. In addition to this, it also gets an i-TPMS system to monitor the tyre pressures. Also standard is the new Electronic Parking Brake with Auto Vehicle Hold. The car also gets dual airbags as standard. The Nexon EV Max also features ISOFIX child seat anchorages.

Completing the safety kit is an IP67-rated weather-proof battery and motor pack. Tata Motors offers a warranty of 8 years or 1,60,000 km on the battery and motor for complete peace of mind.

2022 Tata Nexon EV Max – Powertrain, Battery Range & Fast Charging

The 2022 Tata Nexon EV Max gets a 105 kW PMS AC motor which makes 143 PS and 250 Nm of torque. It uses a larger 40.5 kWh high energy density Lithium-ion battery pack. The battery pack is 33 per cent larger than the Nexon EV. For better thermal management, the Nexon EV Max gets a liquid-cooling system.

The larger battery pack and powerful motor see the EV hit the 100 kmph mark in under 9 seconds. The top speed also sees an increase to 140 kmph. However, it is electronically limited. The larger battery pack also results in a longer range of 437 km as per the MIDC Cycle. The car also gets a 50:50 weight distribution and a low centre of gravity for better handling.

The Nexon EV Max comes standard with a 3.3 kW wall box charger. Optionally, customers can get a faster 7.2 kW AC fast charger. The estimated charging time from 10 per cent to 100 per cent with a 15A plug point is 15 hours. At the same time, the new 7.2 kW AC fast charger takes around 6.5 hours to charge from 0 to 100 per cent. When using a 50 kW DC Fast Charger, the Nexon EV goes from 0 to 80 per cent charge in just 56 minutes.
