Ola has produced the 1,00,000th S1 scooter. The electric scooter rolled out from the assembly line at Krishnagiri, Tamil Nadu.
The milestone was announced by co-founder and CEO, Bhavish Aggarwal on Twitter. An image of the 1,00,000th scooter was also shared. He also said that it took only 10 months to achieve this production number.
Ola Electric has been offering its S1 and S1 Pro scooters for a while. The EV bikemaker has recently announced a new affordable variant called S1 Air, priced at INR 79,999. Price has now been revised to INR 84,999 as the introductory offer is now over.
Ola’s declining sales numbers
That said, the production numbers for the Ola scooter are far from what was claimed. Ola is capable of producing 2 million scooters per annum. Thus, 5,500 units per day. However, the actual numbers paint a grim picture. With huge infrastructure capable of massive production, the bike maker is struggling to sell its scooters. Earlier there used to be a waiting period of months if not years. Now, some customers have reported delivery of the scooters in just 48 hours after booking.
The S1 Air is powered by a hub motor. It has a peak power rating of 6 BHP. Paired with a 2.5 kWh battery pack, the scooter offers a maximum range of 100 km on the Indian Driving Cycle (using Eco mode). It takes 4.5 hours to charge the battery. The 0-60 km/h time is claimed to be 9.8 seconds, while the top speed is claimed to be 90 km/h.
Meanwhile, the S1 gets a 3 KWh Lithium-ion battery pack. The ARAI-certified range is 141 km. The top of the line S1 Pro can do a top speed of 115 kmph and a 0-40 kmph sprint in just 3 seconds. The S1 Pro also gets a range of 181 km on a single charge.
