Nissan could soon launch the X-Trail SUV in the Indian market. Along with the X-Trail the brand could also be planning to introduce the Qashqai and the Juke in India. This will help bolster the brand position in the Indian market and revive its vehicle portfolio in India which currently has only 1 car , the Nissan Magnite. However, the entry of the X-Trail in India is likely to change the game for Nissan as it will be able to directly compete with the Jeep Compass, Hyundai Tucson and the Citroen C5 Aircross. The Nissan X-Trail is likely to come to the Indian market via the CKD route. The Completely Knocked Down route is likely to help the brand keep the price in check and help the brand compete with well established brands such as Hyundai and Jeep.
Nissan X-Trail – Design and Features
The Nissan X-Trail for the Indian market is likely to be the pre-facelift version which is also known as the Rogue in the USA. Having said that, there is not much of a difference between the Rogue and the X-Trail as it had only received some cosmetic upgrades on the exteriors. The X-Trail features LED DRLs and headlamps as well as LED tail lamps. In addition to this, the butch SUV also features a 2D Nissan logo on the grille and 19-inch alloy wheels on the higher-spec variants. On the inside, the X-Trail SUV features a premium dashboard with a wide touchscreeen infotainment system and features such as 360-degree camera and ADAS.
Nissan X-Trail – Powertrain
Powering the Nissan X-Trail is likely to be a 1.5-litre three-cylinder turbo-petrol motor. While the displacement may not sound interesting, however, the engine produces 201 Hp of power and 305 Nm of torque. The engine is likely to be matched to a CVT gearbox but will Nissan offer a 4-wheel drivetrain with the X-Trail is still not clear.
