MG Motor has recently unveiled its all-new global car, the Mulan EV hatchback. It is also MG’s first global car. The company will sell the EV hatchback in the European, Chinese and Asian markets. MG Motor has a sales target of around 1.2 lakh units for Europe in 2022. With EVs gaining a lot of popularity lately, expect the Mulan EV to contribute to the sales greatly. The Mulan will have different names in different markets. In the Chinese market, the name for the car is Mulan. However, it is likely that it will use the MG 4 name in export markets.

MG Mulan EV – Highlights

MG first patented the Mulan EV as the MG CyberE. The hatchback uses SAIC’s Nebula platform as its base. SAIC recently introduced the pure electric platform along with SAIC Everest and SAIC Xinghe. MG’s other EV car in the international market, the MG ZS EV, uses an FWD layout. However, the Mulan will be an RWD model. The company mentioned this. However, MG revealed no other details.

The Mulan EV sports a sharp and futuristic design. The hatchback also gets some interesting design elements. Being a new electric-only model, there is no front grille. The MG logo sits above the lower air dam. Flanking the logo are slim and sharp LED headlights. On the side, the car gets a sleek profile and a blackened C-pillar. Thus, giving it a floating roof look. Contrasting the body colour are black elements all across. At the rear, the Mulan EV gets a sharp wraparound taillight with the MG logo in the centre. At the top of the windscreen sits a split spoiler.

Other details are sparse, but we do know the car will measure around 4,300mm. Additionally, though we don’t know details about the motor, MG claims it will go from 0 to 100kmph in 4 seconds. The EV will also comply with stringent European norms. The Mulan EV will get a slim Lithium-ion battery pack that will sit under the car’s floor.
