Morris Garages is looking to update its much-in-demand SUV, Hector. As a part of this, we also expect to see some aesthetic upgrades. The timeline for the launch is set for Diwali. Given the rising competition and growing number of options in the segment, it is time that the SUV gets some changes. As per sources, the SUV will get more features as well. Similar to what we get with the Astor, the Hector could also get Level 2 Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) technology. Although as a part of this upgrade, we do not expect MG to make any mechanical changes. The most recent facelift update for the SUV happened in 2021.
MG’s Conquest For ADAS Tech
The carmaker has always been at the forefront of adding all the latest features to its cars. With the Gloster and Astor, we saw MG taking the lead to bring in the ADAS features. Similar to Astor, we could also see features like Lane Assistance, Blind Spot Detection, Rear Cross Traffic Alert, Forward Collision Warning and Lane Departure Warning. With the Hector, MG was also the one that revolutionised and brought in the connected car tech.
Thus, MG has always played a pivotal role in equipping its cars with all the latest features. Now with the upcoming upgrade as well, we expect the same from MG. Hector has been a prime contributor to the increasing sales volume for the carmaker. With the upcoming update, Hector will become even more popular amongst the other offerings.
Engine And Powertrain Options
MG Hector will also likely continue with the 143 HP, 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol engine that gets a mild-hybrid tech and the other non-hybrid engine. The second offering is the 170hp, 2.0-litre turbo-diesel unit. Gearbox options include a 6-speed manual available with both engines. Automatic lovers will have to opt for the non-hybrid engine that gets the CVT.
