Written by Kanad Kalasur

Maruti will be introducing its first electric vehicle in October 2024. The new electric SUV is based on the eVX Concept. This car is co-developed alongside Toyota and we can also expect the Toyota version a little later. Now, a few spy images of the car without camouflage have surfaced online.

Maruti’s eVX caught testing abroad

We can see the new all-electric SUV in an almost production ready guise. In terms of size, the car is 4.3 m long and will compete with the all-electric version of the Hyundai Creta in the Indian market. The wheelbase is 2,700 mm while the car is based on the new born-EV skateboard platform. Overall, the SUV appears pretty close to its concept design. However, some of the design elements have been made more palatable.

The car was spotted in Poland.

Maruti eVX : Production plans

The eVX SUV will be made in India at Suzuki’s manufacturing plant in Gujarat. The plant will also make the Toyota version a little later. In terms of annual capacity, the plant can make 1.25 lakh units. This should cater to both the domestic and export requirements.

Despite being a global product, the eVX is scheduled to first go on sale in India followed by other overseas markets.

Maruti eVX : More Details

The dashboard of the car gets a tall design along with vertically oriented AC vents. There is touchscreen infotainment along with a rotary dial. Few physical buttons are positioned vertically in the centre.

The steering wheel comes with a two-spoke design. We can also see a lot of components from the Toyota parts bin. These include the window switches, seat adjustment buttons and more. Looks like Maruti wants to keep the car very un-Maruti like.

Maruti eVX : Powertrain details

Back at the 2023 Auto Expo, Maruti had revealed a few details about the eVX. These include a 60 kWh battery with a 550 km range. However, while the production version will have the same battery, the real world range could drop down to around 500 km. Maruti will also introduce a 48 kWh variant to keep costs in check. This could offer around 400 km of range.
