Maruti Suzuki eVX continues extensive road testing in India

Written by Nizam Shaikh

Maruti Suzuki plans to launch its first born electric vehicle soon in the Indian market. The eVX electric SUV from the Indo-Japanese car manufacturer is currently out on public roads, testing under full camouflage covers. This leads us to believe that the Maruti Suzuki eVX could be nearing production.

Design & Exteriors

Design wise, the test mule appears quite close to the concept that was revealed earlier. Spied images of the test mule reveal a sporty front fascia which is likely to come with an X shaped light signature and a blanked-out grille. In addition to this, the eVX is also likely to come with projector LED headlamps and LED tail lamps.

On the side, the test mule reveals polygonal wheel arches as well as aero optimised alloy wheels. The electric SUV also appears to come with conventional door handles for the front door and C-pillar mounted door handles for the rear doors. Also, the charging port door can be seen on the left hand side front fender. Spied images also reveal that the eVX could come with a shark fin antenna and an aerodynamic roof spoiler.

Interiors Features & Safety

While interior spyshots are still scarce, expect the eVX to come with features such as a large touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a squircle steering wheel with controls, multiple driving modes and automatic climate control with rear AC vents. Maruti Suzuki is also likely to offer the eVX with front ventilated seats. Safety features are likely to include ADAS, 360-degree camera, parking sensors all around, multiple airbags and tyre pressure monitoring system.

Powertrain and Competition

Powering the Maruti Suzuki eVX is likely to be a 60 kWh battery pack which could offer a range of around 500 km on a single charge. Also, the electric SUV could come with a front wheel drive single motor or all-wheel-drive dual motor option. Upon launch the Maruti Suzuki eVX is likely to rival the likes of the MG ZS EV, the upcoming Hyundai Creta EV and the upcoming Tata Curvv EV in the Indian market.
