The Maruti Ciaz launch is inching closer, and details about the car are being slowly revealed. The Ciaz diesel, powered by the Fiat-sourced 1.3L Multijet engine is claiming the highest fuel efficiency in its class, at 26.21 kmpl. This is slightly higher than the previous segment best of 26 kmpl by the Honda City.
With diesel prices rising every month, higher fuel efficiency will surely help keeping potential customers interested. The fuel efficiency figure claimed by the Maruti for the upcoming Ciaz is higher than even the hatchbacks segment, where the most fuel efficient Chevrolet Beat delivered 25.44 kmpl.
However, ARAI fuel efficiency numbers are based on multiple factors and given that the road conditions are ideal at all times. These figures are calculated in a laboratory and hence, real time relevance is questionable.
