Mahindra a few weeks ago listed the new BS6 emission compliant version of the Mahindra Scorpio on the official website but the price was not revealed. Now the brand has updated the official portal with the new pricing of the Mahindra Scorpio BS6 marking its launch in the Indian market. The BS6 model of the Mahindra Scorpio is now available in four variant trim priced starting from INR 11.99 lakh ex-showroom, Mumbai.
With the update, the popular SUV gets a new BS6 emission compliant engine along with the ‘S5’ as the entry-level trim. The earlier ‘S3’ trim which was the base trim for the Scorpio has been dropped from the line-up. The brand has also dropped the 2.5-litre diesel engine from the portfolio leaving the SUV with only the 2.2-litre diesel engine.
Powering the Mahindra Scorpio is BS6 compliant 2.2-litre mHawk four-cylinder common rail direct injection diesel engine with a variable geometry turbocharger and intercooler that produces 140 bhp of power and 320 Nm of torque matched to a 6-speed manual unit. This engine and gearbox combination is now available on all variant trims. The BS6 compliant engine is expected to use a Diesel Particulate Filter (DPF) and a Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR) system along with a dedicated Diesel Exhaust Fluid (DEF) tank to achieve BS6 conformity.
In terms of its exterior, the SUV remains unchanged and features an upright boxy stance with a large chrome-accented grille, bonnet air scoop for the intercooler, projector headlights and integrated eyebrow-like LED daytime running lights, rounded fog lamps with chrome inserts, a wide air dam, front skid plate with silver treatment, flared wheel arches, fender trim, blacked-out pillars, roof rails, tailgate-integrated spoiler and red lens LED tail lamps.
On the inside, the BS6 Mahindra Scorpio features a centrally mounted 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system, rotary controls for the air-conditioning system, automatic climate control, dual-tone dashboard, and optional captain seats with a front-facing third row.
