Kia India has officially commenced production of its latest SUV, the Kia Syros, at its Anantapur plant. The first unit rolled off the assembly line on January 16, 2025, marking a significant milestone for the company.
Positive Consumer Response
Pre-bookings for the Syros opened on January 3, 2025, and have already garnered 10,258 bookings. The Syros is based on a reinforced K1 platform and will be available in six variants. It features sliding and reclining rear seats, ventilated front and rear seats, and a 30-inch dual-screen layout with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay.
Kia Syros Powertrain and Features
The Kia Syros is powered by two engine options: a 1.0-liter turbo-petrol engine and a 1.5-liter diesel engine. The petrol engine produces 118 bhp and 172 Nm of torque, while the diesel engine delivers 114 bhp and 250 Nm of torque. Transmission options include a six-speed manual, a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission (DCT), and a six-speed automatic transmission.
The Syros features 17-inch alloy wheels, dual-tone interiors, and ambient lighting. It comes equipped with ventilated front seats, reclining rear seats, and a 30-inch dual-screen layout with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. Safety features include up to seven airbags, a 360-degree camera, and an Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS) suite.
The SUV offers a boot space of 465 liters and a 45-liter fuel tank. It also includes rear parking sensors, tyre pressure monitoring systems, and electronic stability programs
Market Competition
The Kia Syros enters a highly competitive sub-compact SUV segment, facing rivals like the Tata Nexon, Mahindra XUV 3XO, Hyundai Venue, Renault Kiger, Nissan Magnite, Maruti Brezza, the upcoming Skoda Kylaq, and its own sibling, the Kia Sonet. Each competitor brings unique features and specifications to the table, making the segment diverse and challenging. The Syros stands out with its 17-inch alloy wheels, ventilated seats, and dual-screen layout, aiming to attract buyers looking for premium features in a compact SUV.
The Syros will be showcased at the Bharat Mobility Global Expo in New Delhi, starting January 17, 2025. Prices for the Syros will be announced on February 1, 2025, with deliveries expected to begin soon after.
