Kia India has announced the commencement of bookings for its upcoming premium offering – EV6. The EV6 will be available in India only in the GT-Line trims. Hence, the car will come with all the bells and whistles. The EV6 is important as it marks the beginning of Kia’s EV journey in the country. Kia says it is confident that customers will appreciate the finest Kia offering that it is getting to the Indian market.

Prospective buyers can book the EV6 by paying a token amount of INR 3 lakh. The EV6 will be available to 100 exclusive customers in 2022 on a first-come, first-serve basis. The prospective buyers will be able to book the car through 15 select dealerships across 12 cities in India. Additionally, they can also log on to the company’s official website to place their booking. The car will come to India as a Completely Built Unit (CBU). Kia says it will launch the car officially in the first week of June 2022.

Kia EV6 – Design Highlights

The first all-electric car from Kia follows the ‘Opposite United’ design philosophy. The car also takes inspiration from the contrasts found in nature and humanity. At the front, the car sports Dual LED headlights with Adaptive Driving Beam. They provide a progressive design language and the intelligence to adjust the beam not to dazzle oncoming traffic.

At the rear, the car features a connected LED taillight. In addition to this, the rear also features sequential side turn indicators that lend a sleek and futuristic look. The EV6 also gets flush auto door handles for better aerodynamics and a cleaner look. The handles are hidden inside the door and pop out when someone approaches it with the smart key. Completing the side look, are the 19-inch Crystal cut alloy wheels. They not only give the car a sporty look but also a distinctive stance.

In India, the EV6 will be available in six colour options – Snow White Pearl, Runway Red, Yacht Blue, Aurora Black and Moonscape.

Kia EV6 – Powertrain & Battery

The Indian market will get the larger 77.4 kWh lithium-ion battery pack. Combined with a single-motor 2WD setup, it produces 229 PS and 350 Nm of torque. On the other hand, with the dual-motor AWD, the EV6 produces 325 PS and 605 Nm of torque. The amount of power and torque available also sees the EV6 hit the 100kmph mark in just 5.2 seconds. To keep range anxiety at bay, Kia says the EV6 will deliver up to 528 km on a single charge as per the WLTP combined cycle.

The Kia EV6 will also come with the latest generation of Kia’s Smart regenerative braking system. The system gets six regenerative braking levels to choose from – None, 1 to 3, ‘i-Pedal’, and an auto mode. The i-Pedal mode allows the EV6 to harvest the maximum amount of energy from the brakes. Furthermore, it also enables the driver to bring the EV6 to a gentle halt without the need to use the brakes at all.

Kia EV6 – Top Features

As Kia is bringing in the GT-Line to India, it will come with a host of features. Stepping into the EV6, it greets you with an all-black interior with black suede and vegan leather bolsters. The next thing that one will notice is the 12.3-inch curved instrument cluster and the 12.3-inch curved touchscreen infotainment display. The Panoramic Dual 12.3-inch Curved Displays provide an immersive experience as well as easier access to a wide range of information.

Additionally, it also features a 14-speaker Meridian Premium Sound System for an immersive sound experience. The Driver and Passenger Relaxation Seats also recline the front seats at a touch of a button, providing maximum relaxation. At the rear, the car features a Smart Power Tailgate. The feature automatically opens the tailgate in 3 seconds when it senses the smart key behind the car. For more practicality and convenience, it also features remote folding seats. With the rear seats folded, the EV6 offers up to 1300 litres of boot capacity.
