Jaguar reveals new Panthera EV platform for 2025 debut

Luxury car manufacturer Jaguar in the past announced that it aims to become an electric-only brand. Jaguar revealed that the company would completely replace its internal combustion engines under the ‘Reimagine’ initiative. Jaguar not only plans to become fully electric by 2025 but also become a net-zero carbon business by 2039. Jaguar now reveals that the brand will be able to achieve this by using a bespoke electric vehicle platform. According to reports, the new bespoke platform is christened Panthera and will make its debut in 2025.

What is Panthera?

Jaguar will be developing the Panthera platform in-house and with a specific target. The company aims to develop the platform specifically for the future EVs that will roll out with the Jaguar badge. The brand also revealed that the Panthera platform is part of the Jaguar Land Rover’s Reimagine plan and will be ready before 2025. The new platform has been designed with unique proportions, that will allow the brand to create unique cars using the Panthera. The unique proportions will also help the brand stand out from the crowd.

Jaguar To Rival Higher Segment Vehicles

With the new platform in place, Jaguar will move away from its current rivals – Audi, BMW and Mercedes-Benz. Reports in the past have suggested that the new all-electric range is likely to comprise of three models. These include two crossovers and a sporty 2-door coupe. The new EV platform will also help the brand compete with higher segment brands such as Bentley and Porsche. Sources also report that the new electric vehicles will come with unique designs without any overlap. This will also help the brand offer the best technology and refinement.

Currently, Jaguar offers the I-Pace as a full-electric model. The brand will be offering more full-electric models soon to the portfolio. The luxury electric model range is likely to start from GBP 100,000.
