Just days ahead of its launch, Hyundai has unveiled the design images of the new Verna. The carmaker calls this sedan Futuristic and Ferocious.
Design of the 2023 Hyundai Verna
At the front, the car gets a curved full-width LED light bar. Below this are multi-unit LED headlamps on either side. The headlights sit on the edge of the large hexagonal grille with black inserts. There is a flat H-logo on the bonnet which also has multiple crease lines.
From the side, we can see that the new Hyundai Verna gets a notchback profile. The roofline starts tapering downwards from the driver’s seat and goes all the way to the rear lip spoiler. The doors get conventional pull-type handles and there is a prominent kink running across them all the way to the rear.
Hyundai has equipped the new Verna with multi-spoke alloy wheels finished in a dual-tone shade.
The back image is not yet revealed, but it gets new inverted L-shaped tail lamps amongst others. If the boot lid opens from the entire rear door, then there will be a lot of cargo space in the car – just like an Octavia.
New Hyundai Verna : Engine Options
There’s a lot to talk about in the mechanical department as well. The next-gen Verna will get a new 1.5-litre direct injection turbo-petrol. This motor makes 160 HP. Customers can have this engine either with a 6-speed manual or a 7-speed DCT automatic gearbox. We will get to see this engine do duty in most Hyundai-Kia models in India like the Creta, Seltos and Carens, replacing the existing 1.4-litre turbo-petrol unit.
The other engine on offer with the Verna is the 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine. This engine gets either a 6-speed manual or an IVT gearbox option. Both the engines are RDE and E20 (20 percent ethanol blend) compliant, as per the recent BS6 2.0 emission norms.
Furthermore, another headline is that Verna will not have any diesel engine option available. Thus the midsize sedan segment will become petrol-only as Verna’s rivals don’t offer a diesel engine either.
