Hyundai could be planning to launch a new MPV named Custo which is likely to be based on the latest Kia Carnival platform. The design patents of the new MPV have emerged on the internet leading us to believe that the vehicle will go into series-production soon. According to reports, the Hyundai Custo is likely to make its debut in the Chinese market followed by other Asian markets but there is no confirmation if the MPV will arrive in India.
Design & Styling
According to the leaked patent images, the Hyundai Custo features the Parametric Design language evident in the radiator grille design which is similar to the 2022 Hyundai Tucson SUV. Flanking the radiator grille are sleek headlamps units that are likely to be LED clusters and integrate well with the front fascia. The front bumper gets an X-shaped design with aeroducts flanking its sides and a slim but wide air dam. On the side, the Custo features trapezoidal wheel arches, a couple of character lines on the doors, a chrome window underline, black-out B- and C-pillars, chrome door handles and a sliding rear door mechanism similar to the Carnival MPV. The rear section features wraparound LED lamps with a sharp L-shaped design and a prominent boot line.
Interiors & Features
As of now interior images of the new MPV are scarce but speculations are the Custo MPV will come with multiple seat layouts, touchscreen infotainment system, multizone climate control air conditioning, latest connectivity features from Hyundai, air-conditioning for rear-seat passengers, UBS charging points, ample storage spots, digital driver’s instrumentation and all the latest bells and whistles in the safety departments as well.
Powertrain
Sources report that the Hyundai Custo will come with a 2.0-litre turbo-petrol motor that pushes out 234 Hp of power and 353 Nm of torque. The engine will come paired with 8-speed automatic transmission.
