Honda Cars India is gearing up to launch the new Creta-rival SUV in India. The Japanese carmaker is looking for a launch timeline of Diwali 2023. Now, the SUV has been caught testing on Indian soil.
What’s new in the upcoming Honda SUV?
The car spotted was highly camouflaged but some design details can be observed. We can note that the car gets a vertical front fascia and slim headlamps. This front design is reminiscent of other Honda SUVs on sale globally. We can see this new SUV borrows design cues from the Honda HR-V.
The SUV also sports a sunroof and roof rails. At the back, the LED tail lamps are similar to the new WR-V.
What do we know about this new Honda SUV so far?
While more details are not yet available at this point, it has been reported earlier that this car could measure between 4.2-4.3 meters in length. This SUV will be underpinned by a new version of the platform that is currently being used in the Honda Amaze. Honda has been very tight-lipped about this car and not even a camouflaged test mule of the vehicle has yet been spotted.
On the inside, we can expect the SUV to come with a 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system and a 10.2-inch digital instrument cluster. Apart from this, we could also see Honda offering the Honda Sensing ADAS suite of technology on this vehicle to distinguish it from rivals.
Powertrain of the new Honda SUV
As this car is based on the existing platform, it is likely that Honda could offer the 1.5-litre NA petrol engine which is doing duty on the Honda City. Another option could also be the hybrid unit as well. One of the reasons for offering the hybrid is the lack of diesel option. Due to the upcoming stricter BS6 phase 2 emission norms, Honda will no longer offer a diesel engine on its range of cars in India. The gearbox options could be a 5-speed manual, a CVT and an e-drive transmission.
