Hero MotorSports finishes the Abu Dhabi Desert Challenge 2022 in style. The team finished the competition with two riders in the top-10. Abu Dhabi Desert Challenge is known for being the most challenging race in 100 per cent sand conditions. This race is the ultimate platform to test the capabilities of riders and their machines.

The Results In Brief

Joaquim Rodrigues continued his impression as he made it to the top-10 in each stage. For the fifth and final stage, he finished with the eighth fastest time. This earned him the sixth position in the overall standings of the rally. His compatriot Franco Caimi was also impressed with his performance. Taking into account that he is still in the recovering stage from an unfortunate crash last November, Caimi put on some impressive results for the team. In the last stage, Franco finished in the tenth position. And in the overall table, Franco grabbed the eighth position.

The third rider, Ross Branch, who had a severe crash, could not finish Stage 1. However, he did come back strong and won the very next stage, thus showcasing his fighting spirit and commitment. In the last stage, he managed to grab the fourteenth position, thus finishing P-13 in the overall Rally GP class standings.

What’s There Next?

The last stage of the race took the riders to ride through 209 km. This took the total race distance covered in five days to around 1300 km. The podium ceremony took place at the iconic Yas Marina Circuit in the capital city of Abu Dhabi, thus marking the closure of this edition of the challenge. This Abu Dhabi Desert Challenge was also the second round of the FIA-FIM World Rally-Raid Championship 2022. Done with Abu Dhabi, the Hero Motorsports team will now shift their focus to training and utilizing. With Andalucia Rally, Rally Kazakhstan and Rallye Du Maroc still remaining, the team has a lot to keep them busy.
