Hero MotoCorp & Zero Motorcycles will co-develop electric bikes

Hero MotoCorp, the world’s largest scooter and motorcycle manufacturer, is finalising a collaboration agreement with Zero Motorcycles. The Indian marque will collaborate with the California-based premium electric motorcycle and powertrain manufacturer to co-develop electric motorcycles.

Hero MotoCorp and Zero Motorcycles collaboration will focus on co-developing electric motorcycles. Hero MotoCorp also mentioned the company’s board has approved an equity investment of up to USD 60 million in Zero Motorcycles.

In keeping with the brand’s vision, “Be the Future of Mobility”, Hero MotoCorop aims to address the electric mobility segment through a range of organic as well as inorganic/collaboration initiatives. The company will launch its first electric product, under its emerging mobility brand, Vida, Powered by Hero, on 7th October 2022. 

Zero Motorcycles is the global leader in electric powertrains and motorcycles. The brand designs and crafts its electric motorcycles in California, and they combine Silicon Valley technology with traditional motorcycle soul. Thus, elevating the motorcycling experience for riders around the world.

Hero MotoCorp recently launched the Xtreme 160R Stealth 2.0 edition in India at INR 1,29,738 ex-showroom. It continues with the matte black colour option. However, Hero has added striking red accents on the forks, pillion grab handles, rear footpegs and the engine head. It also comes with Hero MotoCorp’s Hero Connect app, which adds a host of connectivity features.

The motorcycle and scooter manufacturer also announced a price hike across its entire product lineup in India. Under this revision, all the scooters and motorcycles will receive a price hike of up to INR 1,000. The price revision came into effect on 22nd September 2022. Hero stated the price hike partially offset the impact of cost inflation.

The brand also announced the launch of Hero GIFT, which stands for Grand Indian Festival of Trust. This celebration initiative marks the beginning of this year’s festive season. Under this, Hero will update a few of its models. Customers will also get insurance benefits, easy financing schemes, low downpayment, cash EMI and more offers on various products.
