Hero MotoCorp sold 4,47,335 units of motorcycles & scooters in December 2020

Hero MotoCorp, the world’s largest two-wheeler manufacturer has released its sales report for the month of December 2020. Hero MotoCorp claimed that it sold 4,48,335 units of motorcycles and scooters for December 2020 while it had sold 4,24,845 units for the same period last year. As far the quarterly results are concerned Hero MotoCorp reported that it had sold 18.45 lakh units in the third quarter for the financial year 2020-2021 and it is the highest ever quarterly result till date. For the third quarter in the financial year 2019-2020, it sold 15.41 lakh units thus witnessing a growth of 19.7%.

After the drop in sales during the lockdown period, Hero MotoCorp had a very positive unlock period with sales gradually rising and hitting the maximum sales for a single month which was October 2020 with 8,06,848 units dispatched. Hero MotoCorp recorded a 73% jump in the export figures, for the month of December 2020 exported 22,302 units as against 12,836 units for the same period last year.

The main highlights for Hero MotoCorp for the year 2020 were new launches like; Xtreme 160R, Xtreme 200S, Pleasure, Splendor+ Black Accent, Pleasure+ Platinum and more. It also launched the Hero XPulse 200 Rally Kit for the off-roading enthusiasts. Hero also announced its alliance with motorcycle maker Harley-Davidson and now they both would work together to build premium cruiser motorcycles for the Indian market. This partnership will also allow Hero to sell genuine Harley-Davidson branded riding gear and apparel through its wide dealership network.

Hero MotoCorp has also joined the bandwagon of building electric vehicles and thus invested about INR 174 crore in Ather Energy, making them a shareholder of 34.81% in the electric two-wheeler company based in Bengaluru. To encourage people to stay at home to curb the spread of the virus, Hero MotoCorp had launched ‘eSHOP’ to enable a hassle-free online purchase experience for its customers. Recently, Hero also launched the 24×7 Roadside Assistance (RSA) for its customers. Hero had also organised a nation-wide service campaign providing exclusive discounts, exchanage offer and more.
