Ford recalls EcoSport for DPF issues

Written by Nizam Shaikh

In the recent past, there were reports that the Ford EcoSport diesel model owners were facing some issues with the engine. The issues were reportedly related to the DPF (Diesel Particulate Filter). Also, Ford had suspended the deliveries of the BS6 diesel models in the Indian market till the 15th July 2021. However, Ford has not issued an official recall for the affected Ford EcoSport models. The brand could be trying to find a solution for the problem which Ford engineers now appear to have zeroed down on. Thus, the brand has now officially recalled all the affected Ford EcoSport models to rectify the problem through a voluntary emission recall.

Ford EcoSport Recall

According to documents, Ford is notifying its customers to get their vehicle inspected at the nearest Ford dealership. Customers can also visit the dealerships in case they are experiencing engine RPM oscillations at low speeds or at idle. According to the company, the problem could be due to poor combustion, which is likely to damage the DPF.

The Solution

Under the recall, the company will only inspect the vehicle which reports abnormal emission limits. The brand will then take further steps and address the issue by replacing the emission reduction components of the exhaust system. Also, Ford will update the Powertrain Control Module (PCM) software. Reports suggest that the issue will resolve within half a day. Customers can book an appointment by registering their VIN (Vehicle Identification Number) at the nearest Ford Dealership.
