Mahindra is gearing up for a major update to two of its most popular SUVs—the Thar and XUV700. Both models are set to receive facelifts in 2026, bringing refreshed designs and enhanced features to keep them competitive in India’s dynamic SUV market.

Mahindra Thar facelift – what to expect?

The Thar facelift, codenamed W515, will take design inspiration from the recently launched Thar Roxx. The updated model will feature a new grille with vertical slats, C-shaped LED DRLs integrated into the headlights, and redesigned bumpers. Chunkier body cladding and new alloy wheels will add to its rugged appeal. Inside, the Thar will receive a fully digital instrument cluster, a larger touchscreen infotainment system, and repositioned controls for improved usability. Hard-top variants may also come equipped with a sunroof, adding a touch of luxury to the off-road icon.

Mahindra XUV700 facelift – what to expect?

The XUV700 facelift, known internally as W616, will adopt styling cues from Mahindra’s Born Electric SUV range, including the BE 6 and XEV 9e. The updated model will feature a connected LED headlight setup, a reworked grille, and squared-off wheel arches. The interior will see significant upgrades, with a cleaner dashboard layout and a triple-screen setup comprising a digital instrument cluster, infotainment touchscreen, and a dedicated entertainment screen for the co-driver. Enhanced ADAS features are also expected, further bolstering the XUV700’s reputation for safety and technology.

Same powertrain?

Despite the design and feature updates, both SUVs will retain their existing powertrains. The Thar will continue to offer a 2.0-litre turbo-petrol engine and two diesel options—a 1.5-litre unit and a 2.2-litre mill—paired with manual and automatic transmissions. The XUV700 will stick to its 2.0-litre turbo-petrol and 2.2-litre turbo-diesel engines, ensuring reliable performance across variants.
