Honda could be planning to enter the electric vehicle 2wheeler market with a new electric Activa. According to sources, the brand first electric scooter for India is likely to make its debut in March 2025 and it is likely to be the Activa Electric. The name could be chosen for its popularity in the Indian market. However, we believe that the company could use a different name for its all electric scooter.
e-Activa
In addition to this, reports also reveal that the electric Activa is likely to come with a swappable battery system. This leads us to believe that the e-Activa is not just another ICE converted to EV product but will come with a born electric platform. This further leads us to believe that the electric Activa could come with features such as a touchscreen full-digital instruments screen with bluetooth connectivity features, keyless entry and more.
Also, as the electric Activa is likely to be built on a brand new platform, the scooter is also likely to come with a completely new design. Expect, the e-Activa to be aerodynamic in nature and come with a slim profile as compared to the ICE Activa. The electric scooter is also likely to be lighter than the ICE powered Activa to maximize battery efficiency.
Honda e:Swap
In addition to the e-Activa, Honda is also likely to introduce its Honda e:Swap system in the Indian market. On a trail basis in Bengaluru, the Honda e:Swap system is already operational for commercial vehicles. This system allows the user to swap a spent battery for a new one, reducing the range anxiety commonly associated with electric vehicles. Also, thanks to the quick swapping system, the user is able to get a fully charged vehicle all throughout the day, also reducing the turn-around-time.
