Ahead of its global debut, the Volkswagen ID.7 electric sedan was caught testing. The production-ready version of the all-electric sedan was spotted in Germany. The German carmaker is expected to unveil the car shortly in a few months.

This time, we can see the car sans any camouflage. Hence, one is able to observe quite a bit and get an idea of what is to be expected from this all-electric sedan. In terms of positioning, Volkswagen will place the car in the premium luxury segment. The ID.7 is the sixth all-electric vehicle from the Germans and follows ID.3, ID.4, ID.5, ID.6 (China only) and ID.Buzz. Further the ID.7 is the second car after ID.4 based on the new MEB platform.
Last year, the carmaker showcased the car as the ID.AERO concept in China.
Volkswagen will launch the car in China, Europe and the North American markets. The ID.7 will be manufactured at the Volkswagen Group’s Emden plant. The Emden plant also makes the ID.4.
Smart Interior features of the ID.7
One of the features of the all-electric sedan that Volkswagen has highlighted is the smart air conditioning. Here, the vehicle is able to cool the cabin and head up the cabin based on outside temperatures even before the passenger gets in the car. Further, when any door is opened, the smart AC vents quickly disperse a large amount of air volume to compensate for the loss of temperature. Additionally, the airflow can be directed to the passengers or can be used for indirect ventilation of the cabin space.

The electric ID.7. as we know, is based on the Volkswagens MEB platform. It is expected to offer a range of 700 km (WLTP cycle) on a full charge. The exact battery and motor details are not yet known, but we can expect the car to come with many smart features on the inside as well as connected car tech to improve the ownership experience of the vehicle buyers.
