Maruti Suzuki is developing the new Alto facelift for the Indian market. Recently, spy shots of the development mule of the Alto emerged on the internet, which leads us to believe that the brand is planning to introduce the new model soon. However, the Japanese brand is planning to introduce a new-generation Alto for the international markets. Images of the Japanese-spec Alto have emerged on the internet, which give us a glimpse of what is installed for the future of Alto in the global market. Compared to the Indian counterpart, the Japanese model will feature a completely different design and styling.

According to a leaked brochure, the Suzuki Alto in Japan will come with an entirely different front and rear. The new Alto features a closed front end with chrome embellishment and a Suzuki badge. The car comes with a slender air intake on the front and three air intakes on the front bumper. The car features a quirky headlamp design that integrates well with the quarter panel. The brand offers taller doors and chunky door cladding compared to the predecessor.
The new Japan-spec Alto is also boxier than the Indian counterpart and features an upright rear-end. The rear-end of the car also comes with sleek vertical taillamps, reminiscent of the older generation Alto models. The new Alto also features a dual-tone paint theme along with 14-inch alloy wheels with multiple spokes. On the inside, the Alto is likely to come with a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system and semi-digital instruments cluster.
2022 Suzuki Alto – Technical Specifications
The technical specifications of the Alto in Japan are currently sparse. But the India-spec model is likely to come with a 796cc three-cylinder engine. Maruti Suzuki is likely to upgrade the engine with new dual-jet injectors to balance efficiency and power. When launched, the Maruti Suzuki Alto will come with both manual and AMT automatic transmissions. The company is also likely to offer Alto a CNG (Compressed Natural Gas) fuel option in India.
